Revenge of the Sith

Revenge of the Sith is arguably the best of the six. It had an emotional content which none of the others have, and in spite of our advance knowledge of what would happen, the turning of Anakin was powerful. Visually, Lucas seems to have taken several pages out of Peter Jackson’s philosophy – the vistas were stunning and the landscapes (and spacescapes and moonscapes and planetscapes) were magnificent in their vastness.

Master Obi-Wan Kenobi is talking to Master Yoda on board Senator Organa’s ship, and he refers to Emperor Palpatine, though there is no way he could have known about it – Chancellor Palpatine is only then declaring himself Emperor. The next scene, Obi-Wan is talking to Padme, and he slips back into ignorance, referring to “Chancellor” Palpatine. Slip-up, or wrongly remembered sequence by me?

Master Windhu, light-sabre at Chancellor Palpatine’s throat, saying “You are under arrest… [a slight pause] …my Lord” was so much like Shaft!

Master Yoda absolutely rocked, from his light-sabre duel with Darth Sidious to the way he takes out the Clones when they try to kill him. Perhaps the best is the way he deals with the guards when he walks in to see Emperor Palpatine!

Now I wait for the Extended Edition DVD!
